Folding
Folding is used to turn printed flat sheets into any particular folded form required, from maps and pamphlets to sections used in saddle-stitched, burst bound or section sewn books. We perform many forms of folding, including the following:
- section folding for all burst/lock/perfect binding, saddle stitching and section sewing work up to 32pp sections
- roll and concertina (Z) folds
- Gatefolding, including double gatefold
- Map folds
- Bus timetable folds
Machines used for folding are high-speed, high-tech devices that use combinations of knives and/or rollers to rapidly and accurately fold sheets to a consistent format. There are two basic types of folder: knife and buckle.
We have a number of MBO and Stahl folders. We use special creasing wheels, can perform spinegluing (up to 12pp) and simple perforating to cover many specialised and high quality finishes required by our clients.
